The NEMA 17 48 mm stepper motor is a bipolar 2-phase stepper motor with 0.6 N·m holding torque, used to drive the axes of 3D printers, CNC machines, laser engravers, camera sliders and robotic arms with precise, repeatable positioning.
Compact NEMA 17 bipolar stepper motor with a 48 mm body and 0.6 N·m holding torque. Dual ball bearings and a 5 mm round shaft with 105 mm flying leads make it a drop-in choice for 3D printers, CNC and engraving machines, pan-tilt heads, textile and medical equipment, and robotics projects. Pairs directly with the TB6600 microstep driver (available as an option or sold separately).

Frequently asked questions
Is this NEMA 17 motor compatible with 3D printers?
Yes. It uses the standard NEMA 17 42 × 42 mm frame and 31 mm bolt pattern, so it fits the X, Y, Z and extruder mounts of most desktop 3D printers. The 48 mm body gives more torque than the usual 34–40 mm motors; check that the extra length clears your printer frame.
What driver do I need for this stepper motor?
Any bipolar stepper driver rated for at least 1.5 A per phase works, for example TB6600, A4988, DRV8825, TMC2209 or DM542. Set the driver current to about 1.5 A.
What power supply voltage should I use?
Stepper motors are current-driven. Use a 12–24 V DC supply through the driver; higher voltage gives faster stepping and more torque at speed. Never connect the motor directly to a power supply.
How do I identify the phases of the 4 wires?
Red and blue are phase A, green and black are phase B. Wire A+/A− and B+/B− to the matching driver terminals; swapping one pair only reverses the direction.
What is the shaft size?
5 mm round shaft, 12 mm long, suitable for GT2 pulleys, flexible couplings and lead-screw couplers with a 5 mm bore. The shaft is round, so use a set-screw pulley or a coupler with a grub screw.
