WAGO 221 lever wire connectors are tool-free, reusable splicing connectors that join two, three or five solid, stranded or fine-stranded wires by lifting an orange lever, inserting the stripped wire and snapping the lever down, used as a safer, faster alternative to wire nuts in junction boxes, lighting, 3D printers, CNC machines, RVs and DIY electronics.

Genuine WAGO 221 lever connectors join solid, stranded and fine-stranded wires in seconds without tools or wire nuts: strip, lift the orange lever, insert, snap it down. The transparent housing lets you see the wire is fully seated, the test slot accepts a meter probe, and the lever can be reopened as often as you like. Choose the 24–12 AWG (221-41x) or the heavier 20–10 AWG (221-61x) size and 2-, 3- or 5-way models, sold in packs of 10.

Frequently asked questions

Are WAGO 221 connectors better than wire nuts?

For most jobs, yes. The lever gives a consistent spring clamp that does not loosen with vibration, the clear housing lets you verify the wire is fully inserted, and the connection can be opened and remade without cutting the wire shorter. They are UL listed and accepted where wire nuts are accepted, subject to local code.

Which size do I need: 221-41x or 221-61x?

221-412/413/415 take 24–12 AWG (0.14–4 mm²) wires and are the common choice for lighting, outlets and low-voltage projects. 221-612/613/615 take 20–10 AWG (0.5–6 mm²) for heavier circuits such as 10 AWG feeders, heated beds and 40 A loads.

Can I mix solid and stranded wire in one connector?

Yes. Each port clamps its own wire independently, so solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors can share a connector as long as each is within the rated size range.

How much insulation do I strip?

11 mm for the 221-41x series and 15 mm for the 221-61x series. A strip gauge is moulded into the side of each connector.

Are they reusable?

Yes. Lift the lever to release the wire and reuse the connector; WAGO rates them for repeated use.

Are these genuine WAGO?

Yes. They are original WAGO 221 series connectors made in Germany, with the WAGO 221 marking on the lever and the wire-range printing on the housing.
